This incredible mosque is to Jalil Khayat: looks very similar in style to that of Muhammad Ali in Cairo and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. It was opened on 19 January 2007 in that of Arbil, Iraq, after having been under construction for many years. Jalil Khayat, known for being one of the wealthiest people in the whole city, took care of the construction of this mosque. Her children have dealt with the project after Khayat died in 2005. Haji Dara, a son, said he was very happy to see this charity project brought to fruition. The area on which it stands is great as many as 15 thousand square meters, and is located in the city center. The room inside is of 1200 square meters and 45 meters high: it can accommodate 1500 to 2000 people. Next to it, even a smaller room, built for the prayers on normal days.
