The emergence of complex life in the Cambrian, after 4 billion years of Earth's history, marks a turning point unique. Suddenly there were animals with brain and blood vessels, eyes and heart, everything has evolved faster than in any other age planetary known today. A jump in the levels of oxygen before this Cambrian explosion has been offered as an explanation, but other factors may explain the mysterious rise of animals, such as the arms race between predator and prey.
